The Official Dick Van Dyke Show Book by Vince Waldron
Classicsitcoms.com - A site dedicated to The Dick Van Dyke Show, Mash, and many other classic sitcoms, produced by Vince Waldron, author of The Official Dick Van Dyke Show Book.
Just out from Kentucky Press, Rose Marie tells her story.
With candor and humor, Rose Marie tells of her many years in the entertainment world. Her behind-the-scenes look at show business is replete with intimate stories of household names from Hollywood, Las Vegas, and Broadway.
Reviews: “Rose Marie found me in Cleveland, brought me to Hollywood, and introduced me to show business. I couldn’t have had a nicer, kinder, funnier lady as a tour guide. She will always occupy a special place in my thoughts. I’ll be at the bookstore waiting for the fun Hold the Roses will provide.”—Tim Conway
“The book’s fast pace and happy memories will please Rose Marie fans.”—Publishers Weekly
“Not only has Rose Marie written a most entertaining memoir, but she has given us a child’s eye view and an adult’s eye view of her world in radio, film, vaudeville and nightclubs.”—Carl Reiner
TV Sets by Mark Bennett and Christopher Ford
This book of architectural blueprints is a loving, if obsessive, tribute to the minutiae of televised domestic life. Author Mark Bennett's excrutiatingly detailed plans span 25 years of television history, from Tiger's doghouse on The Brady Bunch to The Addams Family's entire manor, including Lurch's harpsichord, Gomez's train set, and Uncle Fester's laboratory. Also included are Rob and Laura Petrie's New Rochelle home, Laverne and Shirley's bachelorette pad, The Jetson's space unit, and Archie and Edith Bunker's Queens row house.
Incredibly, all the plans are drawn to be architecturally feasible; that is, one could actually build from them. To accomplish this feat, the author often had to imagine rooms and areas not shown on the television programs, but only referred to, like Ward Cleaver's den or Ralph and Alice Kramden's bedroom. Included are detailed renderings not only of the characters' homes, but their entire towns, such as the whole of Mayberry and a complete layout of Gilligan's Island.
